Project Understanding has been helping the Ventura County community for over forty years. After meeting with this non-profit, I decided ALL proceeds from Not So Simple: Observations on Poverty and People will go to their 'Housing the Homeless' initiative. Which means when you buy a book for yourself, family members or friends, all that money will literally go into helping someone get back on their feet.
From Project Understanding: Homeless to Home works one on one with homeless neighbors to help them get housed and safe and to make positive changes in their lives. The Homeless to Home program takes us day by day int doctor's offices, courts, government social services offices, and negotiating with landlords. Project Understanding collaborates with government and private partners, including Salvation Army, Turning Point Foundation, St. Vincent de Paul, and The City Center.
Each book is $10 and can be purchased through Amazon, local bookstores in Ventura County (more info coming soon), or ME! The goal for this project has always been to raise awareness, and when that’s coupled with a plan to fundraise for change, that’s when communities begin to blossom.
